Nose Cone Height Failure


nosecone4_thumb.jpgThis unfortunate boat owner added a jack plate to his boat to gain a little top end speed. He was not told by the dealer that a lower water pickup (nose cone) must also be added or the motor will overheat.

 

 

HPIM0038 tile.jpgIn the above photo (lower unit) you can see the motor is raised at its highest point which is when the failure occurred. This failure resulted in a $4600 repair bill and 6 weeks of lost boating. To install a nose cone before any damage is caused would cost $450.00
